This projects creates a strong double curvature shell construction from only one piece of bent plywood.
By exploring different bending techniques this idea was developed. When crossing two sections, that has a gap between them, the double curvature shell is constructed. The cut-out pieces are used to create the back leg. As a result, the chair is made from only one piece of lasercut and steam bent plywood.

The chair has an organic shape and ergonomic feel through its simple and untraditional design that reflects the humanbody’s own flexiblility. With the dynamic lines Svaj ingages with its surroundings and draws attention from the user.
The name Svaj is Danish and refers to something that moves back and forth in a soft, flexible way. It can be translated to flare.
